About the event

Nelson Vails is the USA’s first Black American Olympic medalist in cycling.

He took silver in the individual sprint at the 1984 LA Olympics, and went on to ride alongside Kevin Bacon in the 1986 film Quicksilver.

In 2009, Vails was inducted into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame.

In 2008 Nelson Vails visited Worcester for the inaugural ceremony of the Major Taylor Statue that is outside the Worcester Public Library.

This week Nelly is back in town for something else...filming a segment of the WHIRLWIND film about Marshall W. ''Major'' Taylor.
