As a creative, I believe that it is moral and to some extent a professional obligation to support other creatives, especially the ones who are emerging in the same field as you.
With that in mind, last Saturday, I went to see Finding Lucinda, a live show that blends live performance and a documentary screening.

Cyrille Vincent & Avery Hellman (Artist /Executive Producer )at POP
The event was presented by the POP Emporium in Providence, Rhode Island.
The gathering was so inspiring and engaging that I could not resist the urge to write you.
The documentary Finding Lucinda was released September, 2025 and Avery Hellman whose stage name is ISMAY took the project on the road, screening and performing songs from the film’s soundtrack at selected venues and theaters across the country accompanied by a line up of illustrious guests.

As I am writing this dispatch, ISMAY, an alternative folk music project, driven by California-based singer/songwriter Avery Hellman is heading to Chicago where they will be performing at the Hideout and screening their film Finding Lucinda on Nov 21, 2025
In a world where we are constantly pressured to follow trends, Finding Lucinda is a fresh breeze of authentic and compelling storytelling, skillfully brought on the screen by director Joel Fendelman.
It is a deeply moving introspection of a young artist following the path of mastery and serendipity by exploring the musical journey of three-time Grammy Award winner American singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams.
It’s guaranteed to make you laugh and cry a little at times.

My Signed copy of Finding Lucinda, Music From The Documentary
While I was driving back home after the show, in the pouring rain, listening to Finding Lucinda, an eight track music CD from the documentary, I felt so lucky to have been able to attend such an incredible event at POP.
POP Emporium is a vintage store but needless to say that it is a museum in its own way.
The location has become enigmatic in New England for showcasing what is now coined as popular culture. Sports memorabilia, history artifacts, one of a kind artworks and snazzy arrangements intertwined in the space in such a cohesive way that you think you are looking at a massive contemporary art installation.

A few pictures of things that caught my attention at the POP
It was in this dazzling space that ISMAY and a number of talented artists amongst which were Julie Rhodes, Allysen Callery, Vanessa Carlton, Mark Cuttler, Kelly Jean Knapp, Kendra Mckinley, McCauley and Ian O’Neil from Deer Tick took the stage to offer the packed room an unforgettable experience.
If you are wondering what is the meaning of life and what is your purpose on earth, I will suggest you go watch Finding Lucinda.
At first glance it is a music documentary but unlike most music documentaries, this one wrestles with existential questions of our human condition.
The music is good, actually it is great !
ISMAY voice is irreproachable and the lyrics of the songs performed gripped me in a way that only great poetry can.

A shot from Finding Lucinda on the screen at POP
During the intermission of the show, I approached Avery Hellman and introduced myself and the Whirlwind Film Project I am producing.
Surprisingly, Avery was well aware of my effort with the Whirlwind Film and was connected to a person who attended our fundraising event at the Concord Art Museum last year.
What a small world!
